Govt officials to interact with school children regularly

NEW DELHI: In a unique initiative, all senior government officials will now regularly visit schools in their neighbourhood to discuss with students on subjects like ethics, nation building, environment protection, development and good governance among others.

The move comes following an address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this year’s Teachers’ Day in this regard.

Pimpri: Pimpri-Chinchwad Education Trust’s SB Patil Public School celebrated Teachers Day by organising a function in the school’s multipurpose hall. Principal Madhubala Gairola Inaugurated the function by garlanding the photograph of Dr S Radhakrishnan and offering the traditional puja.

Schools in district ‘cold’ to speech reveals report

The review of attendance in schools in Pune district during Prime Minister’s Narendra Modi’s speech reveals that the response in the city and the district to the speech was apparently “cold.” Data shows that less than a third of the students and less than half the teachers in the district actually watched or listened to the speech in their schools. The empty New Sion BMC Secondary School came alive around 2pm, when students started to gather to sit in front of a TV. They were called in on Friday afternoon to listen to prime minister Narendra Modi’s Teachers’ Day speech.

Pune: As per the instructions of the central government, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) school board has made necessary arrangements to telecast Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Teachers’ Day speech on Friday in various schools.
