Observe 21st of every month as yoga day, state tells schools

Mumbai : The BJP-led Maharashtra government will be asking schools, colleges and universities across the state to celebrate Yoga Day on the 21st of every month, apart from the annual celebrations on June 21, which is observed as international Yoga Day .

The government also wants educational institutions to celebrate a yoga festival from January 12 (Youth Day) to January 21 every year. Read the rest of this entry »

In a new initiative, the state government’s education department wants schools to look after students’ holistic development in stead of just educating them. This will in clude identifying their talent and providing exposure for it, finding their emotional and social quotient and working towards enhancing it to providing socity with a fully-rounded human being. The government has asked schools to create honorary positions for such training and to conduct dedicated classes each week. MUMBAI: Non-instructional days at schools, when there are no academic activities, are likely to be cut-short from the next academic year.
