PIL against `dilution’ of 25% quota dismissed

Pune : The Bombay high court has dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) challenging a recent state government decision pertaining to the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009.

On January 10, the government had passed a resolution to make the management of schools responsible for filling the 25% quota of free seats available to students from the economically weaker sections (EWS) under the RTE act. Read the rest of this entry »

The RTE Act mandates that a child must get admission in a neighbourhood school, one located within three kilometres of the house.

Pune : Students unhappy with the school allotted to them under the Right to Education (RTE) Act can participate in the next round of admissions as part of a betterment scheme.
