Primary schools fall behind CM’s quality target

Pune : A review meeting conducted by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis in the first week of December revealed that in the first phase of improving quality of all 33,000 primary schools in the state, only 15,000 have been able to meet the target.

Aadhar deadline approaches for Pune schools, but where are the machines?

Until last year, it was mandatory to get Aadhar cards issued only for primary students. Now, the same has been extended for pre-primary students as well.

Allahabad: The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday asked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary to ensure that government servants, elected representatives and members of judiciary “and all other persons who get any benefit or salary from state exchequer or public fund” send their children to primary schools run by state Board for Secondary Education. High drop-out among Muslim students in Maharashtra primary schools: CAG

MUMBAI: A survey in Maharashtra has found that while the drop-out rate of children in primary and upper primary schools has declined, the drop-out rate within the Muslim community has actually gone up.

Data from the Unified District Information System for Education (U-DISE) compared drop-outs in 2011-12 and 2013-14. It found that the drop out rate of the Muslim community in primary schools in the state increased from -0.1% to 2.20 for boys during this period. Read the rest of this entry »

Pune: Barely 53% of standard V students at primary schools in the state have appropriate learning abilities for Marathi language, revealed a survey conducted by the Maharashtra State Council for Educational Research and Training (MSCERT).The survey also stated that only 50% of the std V students have the ability to learn mathematics. The initiative, in its trial, run saw massive improvement in perfomances
Following the success of the Shikshak-Mitra (teacherfriend) initiative’s pilot run, the State Council of Education and Research (SCERT) has decided to implement the same in government, Zilla Parishad, and civic primary schools across the state.An evaluation report of the scheme, initially implemented in only 3,500 schools, declared by the School Education department in September, proves its effectiveness — reading ability increased by 20 per cent and mathematical problem-solving ability improved by 15 per cent.
