Nursery admissions: High Court order on Lt. Governor guidelines

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court Tuesday said it will pass order Dec 10 on the pleas challenging a single judge bench’s decision to quash the Lt. Governor’s guidelines of last year on nursery admissions in the capital’s unaided private schools.

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice R.S. Endlaw reserved the order for Wednesday on applications that sought interim suspension of the single judge bench’s order. Read the rest of this entry »

Fears of nursery quota return

NEW DELHI: School associations are weighing in with their views of what the guidelines for nursery admissions should be for the 2014-15 round, but parents are worried the management quota will make a comeback. One of the most staunchly contested changes made by the LG and the Directorate of Education last year was the abolishing of the 20% management quota. NEW DELHI: Can the Supreme Court order granting relief to inter-state transfer quota children in nursery admissions be confined to those whose parents had challenged scrapping of the category?

NEW DELHI: Finally, nursery admissions can restart in the city. The Delhi high court on Thursday lifted its stay on the long-delayed admission process, allowing schools to begin admitting children selected in draw of lots as per the points system. The court said applicants with 70 points who were selected in the draw of lots would be given admission. NEW DELHI: If the constant delays weren’t bad enough, parents hoping for nursery seats say they are being “bullied” by playschools demanding fees for a quarter or even six months for a seat in their own nursery classes. NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Educationissued yet another order on Friday to announce the change in schedule for nursery admissions. The last date for the first list will now be April 7 instead of March 15. While schools serving as centres for the board exams are pleased, the change poses a problem to parents who have already paid the fees. According to the latest order, admissions close on April 25.
