Board exams in Kashmir: 95 per cent students appear on Day 1

From early Monday morning, a large number of police and paramilitary personnel were deployed outside exam centres. Security on roads was also beefed up.

MSBSHSE has invited suggestions, objections from parents, teachers and students within 15 days after receiving several inputs on rescheduling exams

Move taken to ensure students don’t lose an academic year

The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education is mulling over whether a different scoring system for secondary school certificate (SSC) and higher secondary certificate (HSC) examination will be introduced this year. Educationists slam government over its ambitious project, say schools have incentive and 15-day window to ensure good performance
The state government’s much-hyped com petency exams have proved unpopular, with educationists opposing it, saying it would make it easy for schools to cheat and will not reflect the true picture of learning levels. Under the ambitious project, schools have to hold competency tests for classes I to VIII over a 15-day window (between September 14 and 30). This, the academicians say, would mean schools have longer to prepare their students. But despite the criticism regarding these tests, the state remains adamant on not changing the pattern. Mumbai:Class IX students from state schools can now be asked to frame a leave SMS or a condolence message on Whatsapp for their exams.

25 per cent of students pass in SSC supplementary exams

OF THE 1,39,329 students who had appeared for the SSC supplementary exams that took place in July-August 2015. 35,346 students have passed, which is a pass percentage of 25.37 across the state. In the Pune division, of the 18,859 students who had appeared for the exams, 4940 students passed making the results  a pass percentage of 26.20.The results were declared by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSB-SHSE) on Tuesday. Out of 1,39,329 students who appeared for the SSC supplementary exams, 35,000 have cleared their Class X. The exams, held in July, were for students who didn’t clear their SSC board exams held in March, either because they failed or couldn’t appear or because they had ATKTs to clear.
