Pune: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a statement on Tuesday to all schools on details of examination and report card for Std Vl to Std IX from Academic Year 2017-18 onwards.  The move has evoked mixed reactions from parents, while principals of schools feel that this will affect project work and extra-curricular activities.

CBSE cancels 34 courses from Std XII

Pune: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to discontinue 34 subjects from Std XII Board exams from 2017-18, as the number of students opting for those subjects has declined.

Out of these, 27 subjects belong to vocational courses. The board has also remodelled the assessment scheme of Class X Board exams for schools offering vocational subjects as compulsory subjects under National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF).  Read the rest of this entry »

Only NCERT books for CBSE schools

New Delhi: The move to make National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) study materials mandatory for all Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools across the country is expected to standardise the curriculum across schools in the country .

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked all schools affiliated to it to use only NCERT books from the academic session 2017-18.

The decision has been taken after recent reports of an eccentric experiment. A Class IV textbook asked students to suffocate a cat to death to understand the difference between living and non-living things. The book which is part of the curriculum of a Delhi school states “living things need air to breathe and non-living things can live without air for a few minutes.” Read the rest of this entry »

New Delhi: An education panel appointed by the Prime Minister has submitted a report to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) in which they have said that teachers should not do any non-academic work. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), too, in October last year had directed all the schools affiliated to it, and asked teachers not to engage in any non-academic work. CBSE’s ‘Modi’-fication attempt through a quiz

Pune: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) recently sent a letter to all heads of affiliated schools that it will conduct an online quiz on ‘yoga’, ‘holistic health’ and ‘Swachh Bharat’. The quiz will be held on January 24.

The participants will be divided into two categories: Junior – up to Std VIII and Senior  – Std IX and above. The schools can participate in any or both categories. Only one team from each school can participate in the quiz.  Read the rest of this entry »

CBSE Std X & XII exams from Mar 9

Pune: The Std X and XII examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will start on March 9 and will go on till April 29.

A total of 16,67,573 students from Std X and 10,98,420 students from Std XII across the country will be appearing for the exams.

The CBSE exams for class 10 will continue till April 10, while class 12 will end on April 29.

Private CBSE schools can no longer appoint own principals

New Delhi : Private unaided schools affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will no longer be able to appoint principals or heads on their own as the board has empowered itself to monitor such appointments in schools that fall under its ambit.
