Pune : Parents of many school-going children are highly concerned about the safety and security of their children. Parent-teacher meetings too are discussing several safety issues.

Bunny KC said she had a special needs’ child. “I pulled him out of regular school and have been homeschooling him for the past three years. I cannot handle the uncertainty and fear associated with handing over my child’s welfare to anyone else. There is a huge need to educate people about how to cope with frustration rather than target vulnerable children.“

Safety and security of their children is trending on social media groups even as parents share measures followed by schools.

Parent Upasana Khanduri said, “Preventive actions, CCTV surveillance and hawkeyed supervision is necessary . If possible, they should recruit only women staff. “ Another parent, Vinanti Varpe Wachale, said the PTA meeting in their school on Tuesday discussed security issues with the authorities. “It was also suggested to make children aware about bad elements and how to handle situations. As a parent, I will also guide my child on how to be safe.“

Tejaswini Kokate said teaching kids about a good and a bad touch is important but won’t ensure safety .

“A school must have a monitoring system across the campus including buses,“ she added.
