Pune: As admissions in the first round of Std XI on­line Centralised Admission Process (CAP) could not be completed by Thursday, the deadline for the same has been extended until Friday noon, on demand by parents and students.

While Thursday was the last date to take admissions in the first round, 23,812 stu­dents took admissions to the colleges allotted to them by 5 pm.However, following de­mand by students and par­ents, the remaining 24,512 students of the 48,324, who were allotted colleges in the first round, will get another chance to take admissions.

The 19,991 students who were allotted the college that was their first preference on the list were supposed to take admissions in the first round itself. After 12 noon on Friday, the link for ad­mission for these students will close, and they will not be able to take admissions until all the regular admis­sion rounds are over. While
they would get a chance to take admissions in the spe­cial rounds, they wouldn’t be able to claim a seat at the college that they got in the first merit list. 14,552 out of those whose first preference college was allotted to them took admissions at the re­spective colleges in the first round of admissions While the cut-offs and number of vacant seats left will be uploaded on the web­site at 5 pm on July 14, the students will be able to make changes to their preferences accordingly from July 15 to 18. The second merit list will be out at 5 pm on July 20.
