Teachers say the move pushes the entire responsibility on teachers, while govt officials ‘shake off their responsibility’.

The state education department, in a government resolution (GR), has asked teachers to ensure that their schools secure a rank among ‘A’ grade schools under ‘Shaala Siddhi’ — a quality assessment programme — if they want a higher pay.

But less than 24 hours after it was issued, the GR, which decides the conditions under which teachers in state-run schools will get benefits of higher pay grades, has already sparked off a heated debate among the teaching community. Read the rest of this entry »

Students missing school for 30 days to be striked off register

PUNE: Students of government-run school who missschool for over 30 days will find their names striked off the register as the State government has released a Government Resolution (GR) to this effect. The step is being taken to regularise the attendance of students at schools.

“This practice will help us monitor schools, which have been falsely disbursing money from the government in the name of students. A teacher is paid in proportion to the students studying in a class – more the number of students, higher is the pay. Read the rest of this entry »

To ensure that students take lectures seriously, the state government passed a resolution on Wednesday mandating all Maharashtra schools to report pupils who remain absent for more than 30 days at a stretch. Schools will be held accountable for them and they will be left out while providing government aid and staff approvals.

The names of these students will be uploaded on an online ‘drop box’, introduced as part of the government’s database, SARAL. This is being done to arrest the rate of drop-outs in schools. Read the rest of this entry »

In January 2015, the department had issued a GR that said all students seeking admissions in Class I must have completed six years of age,On Wednesday, the state school education department issued a government resolution (GR) in this regard bringing forth a mixed bag of reactions from schools and parents.

MH-CET to be held on May 11

Pune: According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) will be conducted on May 11 this year. The Common Entrance Test will be conducted for courses in technical studies, i.e. engineering and pharmacy.

According to the earlier General Resolution (GR) issued on August 28, 2015, the Common Entrance Test will be mandatory for all graduate courses in technical, engineering and pharmacy courses. Read the rest of this entry »

A city-based activist has filed a written complaint with the education ministry and the state educa tion secretary over the contradictions related to a government resolution (GR) on first-year junior college (FYJC) admissions, released on January 7, 2016, and March 28, 2016.

E-learning for all schools in Maha

PUNE: Under the Fast Forward Maharashtra Education Programme, the State government has decided to install e-learning facilities in all classrooms in all the schools in Maharashtra. A Government Resolution was released informing about the same on Monday.

“This means that all the classrooms will have 32 inch televisions and the teachers will be able to teach lessons through an app in their smartphones,” said Nandkumar, Education Secretary, School Education and Sports Department. Read the rest of this entry »
