Central curriculum assessment to begin from June

“Class III, V and VIII syllabi to be put under scanner; ‘with this assessment, we hope to bring all states on one platform to ensure quality improvement,” says Swarup.

Centre plans to conduct surprise learning assessment tests in schools

Pune: From this academic year, a handful of students from standards III, V and VIII will take part in a learning assessment programme designed by the Centre to fine-tune the system of education in India.

The assessment tests will be held at random, and will involve about 3% of India’s students. The Centre will take help from state governments to conduct this exercise, according to Anil Swarup, school education and literacy secretary from the human resources development ministry. Centre to conduct nationwide review of midday meal scheme

Pune : The ministry of human resource development (MHRD) will conduct an extensive review of the midday meal scheme in almost all the states by August 20.

From Maharashtra, four districts will be selected out of which 40 schools per district will be selected for the review to be conducted by an external agency . Tenders have already been floated for the same on MHRD website on Friday . Read the rest of this entry »

Centre chooses Pune university to host global meet on higher education

The meet will have an attendance of over 70 vice chancellors from the country, experts from the field of education, officials from MHRD and delegates from foreign universities.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has chosen the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SSPU) to organise a consultative meeting on ‘internationalisation of higher education in India and its importance in the new education policy’ — a report of which will be used to formulate the country’s new education policy.
