Enough teachers in govt aided schools: AAP govt to HC

NEW DELHI: The Aam Aadmi Party government on Wednesday told Delhi high court that there was more than adequate number of teachers in schools aided by it.

The Delhi government told a bench of justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Ashutosh Kumar that the prescribed student-teacher ratio was 35:1, but in schools aided by it the ratio was 33.9:1, which was much better. Read the rest of this entry »

Medical relief doubled for government-aided teachers

Medical reimbursements are provided only to teachers of government-run schools or 100 per cent government-aided schools.

 Keeping in view rising medical costs and delay in getting reimbursements, the state education department has doubled its medical support for specified diseases for teachers from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2 lakh, besides giving rights to local education officials at the district level to sanction such hospital bills directly. NEW DELHI: The Kerala Education Society Senior Secondary School on Canning Road has been served a show-cause notice by the Directorate of Education (DoE) for “collecting different types of fees eg admission fee, subscription fee, computer fee, transport fee and donations.” A government-aided school, it is supposed to be free. MUMBAI: Schools and bus contractors may have to hike fees to implement the latest security instructions given to them by the local police.
